Equity in Action: Integrated Care Approaches to Latinx Traditional Healing in End-of-life Care
In honor of Latinx Heritage Month, the Center of Excellence for Integrated Health Solutions will host a conversation on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 11 a.m.-12 p.m. ET with health equity experts and providers who will share examples of culturally responsive integrated care services that support traditional healing practices among Latinx communities.
Prioritizing culturally responsive practices in integrated care can enhance whole-person care by addressing the diverse needs and preferences of individuals, which is especially important for those who are nearing their end-of-life journey. Acknowledging the cultural and spiritual dimensions of many individuals within Latinx communities as they approach their end-of-life journey honors their values and beliefs, while promoting holistic wellbeing during this significant life stage. Cultural sensitivity and collaboration between Western medicine and traditional cultural healing practices can be used to strengthen inclusive integrated care for patients and their families.
Join us to discuss cultural barriers and solutions to providing holistic integrated care, and to share your ideas for how we can improve. The focus of this discussion will be primarily on end-of-life care, however discussion about whole-person and whole-family care across the lifespan will be encouraged.
