Military Culture and Identifying SMVF in Community Clinics
Providing services for veterans and their family members is a vital component of the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model. However, most CCBHCs struggle to engage with organizations such as the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to coordinate care for veterans. This series will deliver content focused on building effective partnership with the VA (or similar organizations) to coordinate care for members of the military.
Session 1: To best support service members, veterans and their families (SMVF) in community clinical settings, it is important to be able to identify members of this population and support their needs in a culturally appropriate manner. This webinar will highlight the need for cultural appropriateness in working with the military-affiliated population and resources for developing cultural familiarity. Attendees will also learn best practices in identifying SMVF through New Hampshire’s “Ask the Question” campaign. Finally, representatives from a practicing CCBHC will share how they have implemented military culture training and identification of SMVF in their programs.
