Research Collaboration Meet and Greet Event

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is launching an implementation science initiative to facilitate the adoption, scaling, and sustainment of evidence-based practices in Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs). This pilot will create partnerships between researchers and providers that draw on implementation science to improve behavioral health care systems and study the approaches clinicians use.

Implementation science is a fundamental, foundational way to begin to address both what makes it difficult to give patients care as well as what has worked and how to continue to strengthen and support those factors. The main goal of this project is to optimize CCBHC services and provide expansive and high-quality care to all who need it.

This practice-based research initiative encourages research-practice partnerships between CCBHC grant recipients and researchers to identify strategies that promote continuous improvement of mental health and substance use care.

To help facilitate this opportunity on the research side, the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), both part of the National Institutes of Health, have issued a Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) [https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-MH-22-170.html] inviting mental health services and implementation science research to support the adoption and sustainability of evidence-based practices in community-based settings that deliver care to people with complex mental and behavioral health needs.
