More and more, organizations are realizing their success starts with their staff — how engaged and supported they are and the resources they have to do their job well, to promote workplace engagement and individual and organizational success.
This is why MTM is now offering a wellness curriculum as part of DLA-20 training. MTM asked its wellness expert to carefully design a wellness curriculum to help providers not only learn best practices to support their wellbeing in the important and demanding work they do daily, but also to learn more comprehensive approaches and simple strategies to boost consumer wellbeing and aid in the creation of successful treatment plans.
The DLA-20 allows providers to demonstrate measurable outcomes to illustrate the value of care. It is a brief functional assessment tool that your providers can use for ages 6 through adulthood, regardless of diagnosis. This measurement tool provides behavioral health criteria to help promote evidence-based practices and support a person’s recovery and wellbeing.
The wellness curriculum is a highly interactive, two-workshop training series. It provides staff with implementation methods to help boost scoring outcomes and enhance treatment plans by introducing strategically designed and systematic wellness practices to boost measurable qualifiers of behaviors presented in the DLA-20. The training includes:
- Rolling with resistance curriculum: How to overcome barriers on a consumer, staff or organizational level to successfully implement the DLA-20.
- A wellness intervention technique tailored for each daily living activity (DLA): This comprehensive training gives staff simple action items they can apply to optimize wellbeing, both with consumers and personally. For each DLA, our wellness expert provides thorough training on best practices that can boost the scoring outcome of that DLA, while promoting engaging discussion and using real-life examples.
- Effectively leading change: What makes a great employee does not always translate to making a great leader, and often our top providers get promoted into leadership roles without adequate training. This portion of the training provides trainers with a unique opportunity to reflect on their role as a leader regardless of their job title, and to learn the domains of human-centered leadership and best practices that can be implemented immediately.
Teaching these systematic wellness practices provides trainers with hands-on learning opportunities for them to apply the knowledge they have gained from using the DLA-20 tool and completing the DLA-20 training. Finally, this wellness curriculum supports the sustainability of both the tool and the wellbeing of your staff and consumers.
Investing in the wellbeing of your consumers and staff is no longer considered a “nice perk.” In successful organizations, it’s a must.
We believe that the key to success when implementing the DLA-20 lies in a comprehensive approach that allows you to identify, remove and/or minimize any barriers that will prevent compliance with measurement-based care, provide frequent and honest communication with staff, and assure that staff has all of the resources they need to help consumers — and staff — implement an all-encompassing approach to their care and wellbeing.
If you are currently using the DLA-20 tool and would like to offer your trainers this wellness curriculum to aid in the application of the tool and boosting scoring outcomes, contact Leighanne Gerstbrein at Leighanne.gerstbrein@mtmservices.org.
