National Council for Mental Wellbeing Platinum Partner Negley Associates and the Mental Health Risk Retention Group (MHRRG) have introduced a groundbreaking collaboration with renowned suicide prevention specialist Dr. Thomas Joiner.
In this partnership, Dr. Joiner’s unparalleled expertise meets Negley Associates’ and MHRRG’s commitment to produce effective online suicide prevention training and resources for mental health care providers. Negley Associates is a leading U.S. underwriting management firm in the behavioral health care industry, while MHRRG is a premier policyholder-owned insurance solution for behavioral health care providers. Dr. Joiner received his PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. His work focuses on the psychology, neurobiology and treatment of suicidal behavior and related conditions, and he’s authored over 800 peer-reviewed publications.
Based on the same evidence-based protocols used by the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, this collaboration is an important next step in suicide prevention and quality care. Ron Zimmet, general counsel for MHRRG, explains, “Suicide rates have been climbing for more than two decades. Each death is a tragedy for the deceased, their family members and behavioral health care providers. Our goal in producing these resources is nothing less than saving lives.”
This free suicide prevention training program comprises a full suite of online video training and downloadable resources to support behavioral health care providers and facilitate high-quality care that helps prevent tragic deaths. It combines cutting-edge research and evidence-based strategies, and continuing education credits are available for all licensed behavioral health care providers that complete the training program.
“Driven by a shared passion for making a discernible impact, the program aims to foster a culture of understanding and resilience,” states Negley Associates Executive Vice President Sue Cohen. “This comprehensive approach goes beyond awareness, offering meaningful solutions for individuals and organizations. When expertise and commitment converge, the result is a powerful force for change in the realm of mental health.”
