Parents and caregivers play a key role in the mental health and wellbeing of youth.
In a 2022 survey, youth respondents indicated they felt most comfortable going to their parents or caregivers with questions about substances. Parents and caregivers can offer meaningful support needed to help improve youth mental health, beginning with conversations where they can listen, share information and provide affirming guidance.
The following resources offer support to parents and caregivers in fostering supportive relationships with youth. You will find helpful information around topics such as social media, youth mental health and health care. Many of these were developed and reviewed by youth who care about their peers’ health and want to offer input to the adults who interact with them.
